COVID-19 Safety -- Communities of color are two to three times as likely to test positive for the coronavirus with Latinos making up nearly half of the total deaths from COVID-19 in California. Help ensure that families have the supplies and resources they need to keep their family safe.
Food for the Holidays-- Food banks in San Diego have reported a 65% increase in patronage county-wide, and lines to receive food have only gotten longer since March. Together, we can address food insecurity during this holiday season and ensure that every family has a holiday meal.
Invest in Childcare-- The COVID-19 pandemic poses monumental implications for the development of young children, and these disruptions are expected to widen already existing inequities in education. By supporting childcare and providing essential education resources, our programs work to reduce the learning gaps for young children and their families and ensure that all children have quality early childhood care.
Workforce Development-- Latinas make as low as 64 cents for every dollar earned by white men. With unemployment at 14% and rising, it is crucial to support small businesses owned by women of color.
Advocacy-- Nearly 30% of childcare homes reported that their businesses would not survive more than two weeks of closure without significant public investment and support, leaving nearly 4 million young children without childcare and thousands of women of color unemployed. Now is the time to advocate for policies to support this largely women-of-color-led industry.
