As you might know, Chicano Federation has been working on a three-year strategic plan. Throughout this process, we have incorporated the voices of our team, leadership, the people we serve, and our community at large. We have had intentional conversations and have reflected on our core values. We invite you to learn more about our commitment and new strategic plan at our Raíces (formally named Hispanic Heritage) event. We are very excited to share our goals, mission, vision, and values with all of you!

A very important part of the work that we do is to welcome and serve everyone with the dignity and respect we all deserve, just for being ourselves. The words we use matter. We are committed to intentionally using the appropriate language that creates a more inclusive and diverse community and fosters an environment of respect, acceptance, and belonging for all.

Because of this, we are realigning our heritage event and incorporating the term Latine (pronounced la-ti-ne), a gender-neutral form of Latino used by LGBTQIA+, gender non-binary, and feminist communities in Spanish-speaking countries. This term uses the letter "e" to illustrate gender inclusivity within existing Spanish pronunciation, honoring our Raíces.
